(Use of Articles in English – with Examples)

अंग्रेज़ी में Articles (A, An, The) का प्रयोग Noun (संज्ञा) से पहले किया जाता है।
Articles का सही उपयोग समझना अंग्रेज़ी सीखने के लिए बहुत ज़रूरी है।

1️⃣ A का उपयोग (Indefinite Article)

नियम 1:

“A” का उपयोग Singular Countable Noun से पहले किया जाता है,
जब वस्तु या व्यक्ति अनिश्चित (indefinite) हो।

उच्चारण: अ
अर्थ: एक / कोई एक

उदाहरण:

1. I saw a dog. – मैंने एक कुत्ता देखा।
2. She bought a pen. – उसने एक पेन खरीदा।
3. He is a teacher. – वह एक शिक्षक है।
4. I need a cup of tea. – मुझे एक कप चाय चाहिए।
5. There is a car outside. – बाहर एक कार है।
6. She saw a bird. – उसने एक पक्षी देखा।
7. He wants a house. – उसे एक घर चाहिए।
8. I met a friend yesterday. – मैं कल एक दोस्त से मिला।
9. She is eating a banana. – वह एक केला खा रही है।
10. He has a bicycle. – उसके पास एक साइकिल है।

नियम 2 (उच्चारण पर आधारित):

अगर शब्द vowel letter (a, e, i, o, u) से शुरू होता है लेकिन
उसका उच्चारण consonant sound से होता है, तो A का प्रयोग होता है।

उदाहरण:

• a university (यू → ‘य’ ध्वनि)
• a European country (यूरोपियन → ‘य’ ध्वनि)
• a one-time offer (वन → ‘व’ ध्वनि)

वाक्य:

1. I study in a university. – मैं एक विश्वविद्यालय में पढ़ता हूँ।
2. He lives in a European city. – वह एक यूरोपीय शहर में रहता है।
3. She bought a one-way ticket. – उसने एक वन-वे टिकट खरीदा।

अर्थ: एक / कोई एक

8. I need an hour. – मुझे एक घंटा चाहिए।
9. She is an engineer. – वह एक इंजीनियर है।
10. I saw an island. – मैंने एक द्वीप देखा।

नियम 2 (Silent Letter Rule):

अगर शब्द consonant letter से शुरू होता है लेकिन
उसका उच्चारण vowel sound से होता है, तो An का प्रयोग होता है।

उदाहरण:

• an hour (h silent)
• an honor
• an honest person

वाक्य:

1. I will arrive in an hour. – मैं एक घंटे में पहुँचूँगा।
2. He received an honor. – उसे सम्मान मिला।
3. She is an honest person. – वह एक ईमानदार व्यक्ति है।

3️⃣ The का उपयोग (Definite Article)

नियम 1:

“The” का उपयोग निश्चित (specific) वस्तु, व्यक्ति या स्थान के लिए किया जाता है।

उच्चारण: द / दी
अर्थ: वह / वही / उस

उदाहरण:

1. I saw the dog in your garden. – मैंने तुम्हारे बगीचे में वह कुत्ता देखा।
2. She went to the market. – वह बाज़ार गई।
3. The sun rises in the east. – सूरज पूर्व से उगता है।
4. He is the best player. – वह सबसे अच्छा खिलाड़ी है।
5. Please open the door. – कृपया वह दरवाज़ा खोलो।

Plural noun और Uncountable noun के साथ,
जब वे निश्चित (specific) हों।
